Selfies. I think the inventor of the word selfie would be a miljonair right now i fit was possible to earn money with coming up with new words. The word selfie is used so much! Unfortunately me and selfies aren’t a great combination, so I actually almost never make selfies, since I’m just not happy and I kind of gave up on it…
I started some conversations about selfies with some co-bloggers and I’ve watched many selfies, so that’s why we will talk about selfies today… :)
Okay, just nice to start with:
“A selfie (/ˈselfiː/) is a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. They are usually flattering and made to appear casual. Most selfies are taken with a camera held at arm’s length or pointed at a mirror, rather than by using a self-timer.” (source: Wikipedia)
So: a selfie is a pic of yourself. I must say that I find it pretty weird to take photos of myself and I mostly only do it together with other people. I also never know how to look nice and I hate the fact that photos are being mirrored afterwards. So therefore you won’t find the hashtag #selfie a lot in my posts ;)
Tips by the selfie professionals
EN | I don’t know whether you guys know this feeling, but I always see people with selfies and I always think “why are here selfies ALWAYS perfect?!” when looking at someone’s account. Okay, I bet that they will also have to make about 10 pics before they have the perfect one, but I’m still a bit jealous when I see them. So that’s why I asked a few of these girls for their ultimate selfie tip and I just had to share them with you!
“Choose to shine! Your smile in combination with daylight will make sure that you will shine on each photos. Having issues with smiling? Tell a joke and you will get a spontaneoussmile!” – Dagmar (left)
“Search for the right angle. I always shoot selfies from the same angle, so I’m always sure that they will be nice!” – Lilia (right)
Believe in your #SELFIE
So, at the end I just think that you shouldn’t be too critical to yourself (note for myself as well) and you shouldn’t compare your selfies to others. But: some items would be nice to help you, such as good light (outside!), a good smartphone with a good selfie cam (e.g. the new iPhone 6 or the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S6) and of course a good smile. Oh, and my ultimate tip: use the volume buttons to shoot the pic! :)
PS. I think it’s pretty cool that I managed to write a whole articles on selfies, haha ;) I hope it was useful for you! Do you have the ultimate selfie tip?
