Hello 2017, I’ts nice to see you! I actually can’t believe that 2016 is already over, time has gone way too quick in 2016, I feel like we just started that year, but we are already facing an entire new one. I’m not a ‘ new years resolutions’ kind of person; I like setting some goals or semi-goals for a new year, since I like to achieve things, but resolutions are not really an Alex thing. I spent the last days of 2016 in London and I got some time to think while enjoying this citytrip. I have set a couple of (semi-)goals for 2017 and I would love to share them with you today. And well, it’s also a good way to look back on my goals at the end of the year if I write them down…
Last year, I decided to narrow down the amount of photoshoots I did -as photographer-, since I was doing too many things in my life and I couldn’t handle all of it anymore. I did some nice shoots and I really feel like I got the chance to develop myself in the field of portrait and fashion photography, also because I took more time to prepare and to set photo goals. I also think I got better in editing photos and my latest technical equipment addition -an iMac- is certainly a nice feature too. I would love to do some more shoots in 2017 and more also ‘jobs’ instead of nearly only TFP work. So, let’s start here: interested in a portrait/fashion/outfitshoot? Check out my photography portfolio or send me an email message so we can discuss and plan a nice shoot.
I DON’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT ONLINE
One of my online struggles is the pressure of being perfect. My Instagram feed needs to be perfect, my amount of likes and follows needs to be perfect and everything on the blog, from posts to the amount of comments, needs to be perfect. But recently I realised that this is just something on my mind. A perfect Instagram feed, amount of followers and comments or amount of likes does not exist. I should be happy with everything I post and everything I do online and yes, it would awesome when many people show their interest, but being online is not only about that. It’s about expressing my feelings and creativity and about sharing the things I love. I keep asking Roy if photos match my feed and last week I realised that I shouldn’t ask it. It’s about the photo, not about the feed. People will like my stuff when they like it and that should be enough.
So, in 2017, I don’t want to focus too much on likes, follows and comments anymore. I want to focus on creating good content for all online channels and on being happy with everything I do. I mean; my Instagram description includes this quote: “You were born to be real, not to be perfect.” And that’s how I want to live my online life in 2017.
A NEW CAR
I’m not 100% sure what car, though 90% of me says ‘MINI! MINI!’, but I want to buy a new car in 2017. I bought my current car back in 2014 when I started at my job and lately I have been thinking of buying a new one a lot. I just feel like it’s time to buy a new one. So let’s save some money -that’s why I (ok, Roy too) had to force myself not to buy a new designer bag back in London last week- so I can drive a new baby this year!
TRAVEL AS MUCH AS I CAN
I travelled a lot last year and I really liked it. Therefore I would love to make some nice trips again in 2017. Roy and I already said that we would love to travel outside Europe at least once this year and I hope Roy and I and maybe some friends and I will make some other nice trips too. I love discovering the world, seeing nice places and to clear my mind when being on a holiday, so I feel like traveling is a good thing to do if you are able too. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for nice holiday/city trip destinations!
“Say YES too new adventures.”
SPENDING MORE TIME WITH MY LOVED ONES
I recently realised that I am really blessed to have amazing people -family and friends- around me and at the same time, I realised that I did not spend as much time with them as I would have loved in 2016. I don’t think this should be called a goal, but more like a ‘wake up call’, since I just want to spend enough time with people before it might be too late. So this year will hopefully be filled with a lot of nice ‘dates’ and visits!
Well, let’s see if I can accomplish all of the (semi-)goals above. I think I must be able to do everything I mentioned in this post and I will do everything to make this year great and unforgettable, I hope your 2017 will be awesome!
Do you have goals for 2017? I would love to know! :)
